Why play HUSNG online Poker?

E-mail Print PDF

If you are just starting out playing online poker,  playing Heads Up Sit'n Go's  is, in my opinion, the only form of poker where you can make so much money per hour with a relatively small bankroll. The following are some of the reasons that make these games the low stress way to build a decent bankroll.

  • Lower variance.
  • Less chance of going bankrupt.
  • You get the fish all to yourself.
  • No-one can quit you in the middle of a Heads Up game.
  • You become a great hand reader which helps you in any other poker games you play.
  • You can start out with a small bankroll.

So,now that you know some of the reason's to play HUSNG poker the next question that everyone usually asks is.."Well, how much money can I make and how do I go about it?"

Where should I play HUSNG? (Pt 1 - Full Tilt)

dice_cardIf you are serious about playing HUSNG poker there are a multitude of sites to choose from. The 2 most well known sites due to their huge player base are Full Tilt and Pokerstars. In the following article I will try and critique the pros and cons of playing at either site and explain what sort of structure and player you can expect at both of these sites. I will also suggest some alternative sites besides these 2 behemoths and explain if there are any reasons you should consider playing elsewhere. Full Tilt and Pokerstars are definitely worth considering playing HUSNG's at but there are also many reasons to consider playing elsewhere, most notably because of the easier players you will find and also because of the great bonuses and rakeback available at some of the lesser known sites.

Playing HUSNG at Full Tilt

Our recommendation here at HUSNG.info of where to initially start playing HUSNG poker is Full Tilt Poker. The traffic isn't as high as at Pokerstars but in our opinion the overall player base especially at the lower limits is much weaker. You can always find a weak opponent hanging around at the low limits at Full Tilt

HUSNG Bankroll Management

moneyAnnual income twenty pounds, annual expenditure nineteen six, result happiness. Annual income twenty pounds, annual expenditure twenty pound ought and six, result misery.
Charles Dickens
David Copperfield.

When you first start out playing poker the last thing on your mind is Glossary Link bankroll management. Some would argue that it is the most important aspect of playing online poker and I would tend to agree in principle. You obviously need to learn how to play optimally and become a better player but if you lose your bankroll in the process then this will never even eventuate. So at all stakes we need a big buffer to counteract the beast that is known as variance. The higher you play the bigger the buffer(ie: number of buy ins) probably needs to be.

Some of things that you need to consider are..

Bankroll Your initial Bankroll
Winrate What winrate do you expect to have?
Skill What skill level are and what level you will play at?
Funds Can you replace your bankroll if you go broke?
Ambition Do you plan to try and move up through the stakes?
Multitabling How many tables will you play?

Grab a notepad and jot down your answers to the above questions. It will help you formulate a plan and set some goals which will be critical to your success as a budding HUSNG  poker pro. Keeping the above in mind let's go through how your bankroll management should evolve as your rise up through the ranks of HUSNG's.

HUSNG player types

E-mail Print PDF

People will tell you that there are an infinite number of player types. In one way this is true as no 2 players are exactly alike. However I really think that the majority of online HUSNG players can be broken down into 4 types. They are

01.Tight aggressive(TAG)

02.Tight passive(TIP)

03.Loose aggressive(LAG)

04.Loose Passive(LOOP)

TAG's and LAG's are commonly used aconyms in the poker community, but LOOP's and TIP's to my knowledge are not.( For the remainder of this article I will use the above acronyms to refer to the 4 player types). In this article I am going to try and give you some ideas on how you can identify each player type and more importantly what tactics you should use to play optimally against each of these opponents.

01.The TAG

The following are the common traits of a HUSNG TAG

  • Hardly ever calls your raises.
  • Hardly ever calls your 3-bets.
  • Doesn't attack your limps.
  • Never turns up on the Glossary Link river with junk.
  • 3-bets occasionally.
